Garment Finishing, Explained

Finishing covers the detail work that happens after the main stitching is complete — trims, closures such as buttons or hooks, thread trimming and pressing.

It's also the stage where small construction issues are most visible, which is why finishing and quality checking are treated as closely linked steps rather than separate departments.

For buyers, garments with clean finishing — even stitch lines, secure closures, pressed seams — are usually a reliable signal of overall manufacturing quality.
